The Doll Company of Oman is a new business whose aim is to promote the traditional clothing of Oman locally and abroad.  The reason is quite simple; because they are beautiful designs.

Though the company does not consider itself an expert regarding the heritage of these designs, we have tried as accurately as possible to duplicate them in accordance to the pattern cut, fabrics and laces that would be used by the people who wear them.

With that in mind we wish to thank those who gave us their unending patience and shared expertise on the subject of heritage and clothing.  Without them this would have been far more difficult than it already was.  Most sincerely, thank you one and all!

The clothing ranges from traditional to modern, and from infant to adult for males and females both.  Most fabrics used are satins and silks, the latter of which is commonly and traditionally brought from India.  We consulted with heritage experts in creating this collection of dolls so that what you have is as authentic a design as it possibly can be for the size that it is. 

It is our dream to one day create the entire doll here in Oman and to do all the stitching ourselves, all under one roof, by Omanis, and through the sales of these dolls such a dream just may come true!

We have created these dolls as affordably as possible without compromising on quality or authenticity.  It is our hope that you will see the great detail that has gone into the creation of each and every doll.

The dolls range in size from 18 inches to 28 inches and we've started with four girls and two boys.  The boys are Issa and Yusif, 28 inches and 20 inches respectively.  Their clothing represents the man's traditional Omani dress which is still worn today, in casual and more formal attire.  Boys and men typically dress very much the same throughout their childhood and adulthood so no ages have been assigned to Issa or Yusif for their clothing well represents nearly every age of boy and man.  (Infants are typically without any headdress.)

Girls' and women's clothing, unlike the men's, does go through changes as a girl grows and becomes a woman.  This is why we've started with four girls and only two boys.  Malka is our smallest doll, 18"and in a sitting position.  She is also a good size for a laying down baby.  She represents the infant age group for clothing and her designs are accordingly.  Amal is also a sitting doll but a bit larger at 22" and she represents toddler girls.  Sarah stands tall at 22" and represents older children while Khadija is our tallest at 28" and her clothing represents teenagers and young women.

The Sultanate of Oman has been blessed in numerous ways and just one of the many ways is having a culture steeped in traditions all the way down to the clothing.  As our company grows so will our line of dolls and the clothing because Oman has so much more to share with you than what we have chosen to begin with.
