Oman’s Renaissance dates from the 23rd of July 1970, when His Majesty
Sultan Qaboos bin Said acceded to the throne of his country. From that day, the
people of Oman have experienced change, progress, and an improvement in the
quality of their lives at a rate unprecedented anywhere in the world in modern
times. The rate of progress has
included the cultural life of the Sultanate, and music has been developed to the
point where the Omani people have a wide variety of musical styles available for
their pleasure. They can participate in them, or enjoy the performance of the
professional musicians of the bands and Orchestras of Oman. This is the story so
far.
