padFrankincense

For a limited time only, to celebrate our reopening, we are offering authentic Omani frankincense for 15% less our normal retail price, any size!

If you are surfing the internet to get the best price on "frankincense" you will not get the lowest offer from our site.  (That is not a typing error!)  Resins from Somalia and India are sold far cheaper than what we can offer.  What you will get from our site is the lowest price on the highest quality of resins sold anywhere in the world!

Frankincense:  Once the gift of kings and considered more precious than gold, this ancient resin goes back as far in time as we can remember.  As famous as the silk route is the frankincense route with a direct path through Oman 's Dhofar region.  (Visit Ubar at Shisr and Khor Rhori to see historical places along the frankincense route located right here in Oman .)

In today's market frankincense resins are no longer valued so highly, however, they are still a treasure to have and to hold, especially those resins from Oman where the resins have always been considered the very best.

*Note:  Please keep in mind that your resins are likely to be fresher than anywhere else you can buy because your resins are being shipped directly from Oman and are not stocked and aged.

Below is a list of all grades harvested in Oman though we are only offering Hougari at this time since it is presently our only reliable grade in terms of continuous availability.

Superior , a hand picked bag of Hougari or Nagdi is a better grade of resin than an average bag of Hougari. (Usually marketed as "Silver" by slick merchants.)  The reason for this is simple if you think in terms of a floral arrangement.  Though a rose is a rose is a rose, as the saying goes, not every single rose in the arrangement will be as ornate or as perfect or as fragrant as the one next to it.  The same is true for frankincense resins.  During the summer season and early fall, we do NOT recommend spending the extra money on Superior resins because regular Hougari (sold for $5 less) is normally fantastic and a consumer would have to border on “expert” to tell the difference between the two.

Hougari, also spelled Hojary, is considered the highest grade of the Omani resins.  The resins tend to be a bit on the large side compared to Somali resins and have various tints of green, blue, amber and gold, unlike Somali resins and Nagdi.  The Hougari resin is highly fragrant and even unburned leaves it's scent trailing through a room.  Hougari gets it's name because of where it grows, the Hojar region.  Outside of the peak season, this description does not completely hold true so you may want to consider buying Superior between late December and June.

Nagdi, also spelled Nejdi, has a very nice aroma as well, though slightly different from Hougari.  The most obvious and immediate quality about Nagdi that even an untrained eye will be able to identify is it's varying appearances.  Nagdi can sometimes appear to look very similar to Hougari though lacking in quantity the green tints, and other times the Nagdi harvest may be a bit on the dark side.  It is named after the region where it is grown, Nejd . During peak season the Nagdi is great but between December and June it appears black, very wet and sticky, and we tend to not sell it for this reason unless a customer really wants it in this condition. Not Available at this time.

A great deal of mystery continues to surround the resins as there seems to be much that is still to be explored, however, what seems unanimous among the connoisseurs of these fine resins is the opinion that the best resins emanate from Oman.
